
The Texas Center for Disability Studies: University of Texas at Austin has a research advisory committee of community members consisting of autistic adults, adults with IDD (intellectual and/or developmental disabilities), and family members of individuals with autism or IDD. Recognizing the historical underrepresentation of certain communities in autism and IDD research, we believe individuals with lived experiences should advise our research studies because they have unique experiences and can provide different viewpoints to researchers in the field of IDD and autism research.
You can present a study to get feedback on whatever phase in which you need input (e.g., conceptualized before grant submission, measures and data collection, recruitment, analysis, or dissemination). We ask that researchers create a plain language abstract, indicate what questions you might have for them, and a PowerPoint presentation that can be shared one week in advance of the meeting.
