The Texas Center for Disability Studies works to create a better world through research, education, practice, and policy.

The Texas Center for Disability Studies envisions a world where all people are recognized, respected, valued, and included.

  • Choice
  • Freedom
  • Inclusion
  • Inherent value of people
  • Justice
  • Respect

The Texas Center for Disability Studies is a part of The University of Texas at Austin's Steve Hicks School of Social Work and strives to fulfill the mission, vision, and values through work at our Center and with our partners. See our University mission here

There are Developmental Disability Partners in every state; in Texas we embrace the partnerships and strive to utilize the expertise that each 'DD Partner' organization has.

Our national partners recently grew as a result of a 2015 federal reorganization. The Administration for Community Living was created around the fundamental principle that older adults and people of all ages with disabilities should be able to live where they choose, with the people they choose, and with the ability to participate fully in their communities. The Aging and Disability Partners can be seen here.
