TEA Grant Focuses on Stakeholder Input

On April 26, 2019, Texas Center for Disability Studies (TCDS) at the University of Texas at Austin announced that it is receiving a grant through the Texas Education Agency (TEA) which will provide opportunities for stakeholders including families, community members and professionals to provide feedback to TEA on special education issues. The Strategic Health Alliance project at the TCDS will lead this effort.

“This initiative is a natural fit for our work at the Center, which is singularly focused on improving the lives of people with disabilities,” said Dr. Amy Sharp, TCDS director. TCDS is part of the College of Education.  Its partners on this project include Institute of Public School Improvement, also part of the College of Education, and two prominent nonprofits, Knowbility, and Texas Parent to Parent.  Together they will bring the community to the table, both online and in person and build a communication bridge that will serve the children of Texas for years to come.
