Research Program Coordinator

PODER

Stephany Brown, LMSW is a Research Program Coordinator for both ASPEN and PODER projects at UT Austin's Texas Center for Disability Studies (TCDS). Driven by the profound experiences she had as a social work intern and research-practitioner, Stephany’s pursuit of a career in social work is dedicated to child welfare and social policy. She believes that with new research findings, presented at the right time, we can inspire people who truly believe in the TCDS vision to support its mission in creating a more equitable, evolved society.

Stephany specifically excels at managing research principles and ethics by coordinating strong intervention fidelity checks, training, and study group sessions. Her previous experience with program development in school settings highlights how essential community engagement is when building multi-tiered systems of support that interweave restorative justice and social work frameworks. Currently, she is working towards gaining expertise in research to narrow her social work therapy practice with minority populations. Stephany is also passionate about inspiring students to explore and embrace their experience between research and practice in their social work career development.

Stephany holds a master’s degree in social work focusing on children and their families from the Texas State University and an undergraduate degree in social work from the Stephen F. Austin State University. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband cooking, baking, and cruising new towns.
