Discipline: Social Work

Monique is a second-year graduate student pursuing a Master of Science in Social Work with a Clinical Concentration at the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin.  She is from Brazil and has a Bachelor's degree in Law. Monique decided to change her career to pursue a profession that would allow her to help people directly and efficiently, which she feels gives meaning to her life.

She chose social work because she intends to impact underserved populations' lives positively. Now, having found her path, being part of the ACT LEND program legitimates, even more, this professional choice in her journey.

Her future goal is to do a Ph.D. in the area and develop research that can study ways that enable Latino children with autism in the US to feel more adapted to the environment, especially concerning language barriers.
