Farhana Khawar was born and raised in the U.K. She moved to the United States in the late 1990's. As a mother of a child with Cerebral Palsy, Farhana has been an advocate for children with disabilities for over ten years. Farhana has been trained in leadership and advocacy training through DARS (Texas Department of Assistive & Rehabilitative Services), SOS Leadership Women Leaders program, and AMCLI (American Muslims in Civic Leadership) program, ING (Islamic Networks Group), CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations). She has also trained with Texas Parent to Parent organization for various advocacy roles. She has been invited to speak at several parent panels including UT Austin and Texas Parent to Parent. In the U.K, she worked with “pass it on parents” a local chapter to promote diversity by helping create their logo, as well as speak about the importance of inclusion and diversity during their annual seminar. She has volunteered her time with several civic and social organizations including Comprehensive Care Clinic to provide feedback with research and new developments.
