Earl Huff, Jr. is an Assistant Professor in the School of Information and Co-Director of the Research on Equity, Access, and Inclusion in Technology and Society Lab (REALITY Lab). He is also an affiliate of the Texas Center for Equity Promotion and a research affiliate of the National Disability Center for Student Success, both housed in the College of Education. Prior to starting at UT Austin, Earl earned his Ph.D. in Human-Centered Computing at Clemson University and his M.S. and B.S. in Computer Science from Rowan University.

Earl’s research is focused on human-centered approaches to creating a more equitable and inclusive teaching and learning environment. He researches ways to improve the accessibility of online learning environments and associated technologies to be used by all learners, including those with disabilities. Huff leverages methods in participatory design and interaction design to infuse the voices of end users and future users into the design of accessible technology solutions in education. Additionally, he examines how the ethical application of AI can play a role in reshaping the teaching and learning practices and technology use in K-16 education. Earl has published works across various venues in computing education, learning technologies, accessible computing, software engineering, human factors, human-computer interaction, and user-centered design.
