Alyssa Barrera Lansford (she/her/ella), who prefers to go by the name "Lyssa," is a Tejana/Latina board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA), Ph.D student, and mother of two living in San Antonio, Texas. Having worked providing crisis services within South Texas and seeing many issues/gaps arise during her sessions with the families she worked with, Lyssa decided to pursue a doctorate degree within the special education- equity and diversity track. Lyssa's research focuses on advancing the field of applied behavior analysis (ABA) by integrating qualitative, intersectionality, and culturally responsive aspects to help showcase the voices of the diverse populations we serve and to find more solutions to progress the field ethically. Outside her academic, career, and motherhood identities, you can find Lyssa at the beach reading fantasy novels.
