Please join us in extending best wishes to Dr. Amy Sharp, who is retiring from the Texas Center for Disability Studies (TCDS) on March 5, 2021.

With over 30 years of experience in working with people who have disabilities and in administration under her belt, Amy moved into the Director position at the TCDS at the University of Texas Austin in September 2015.  Prior to her work at the TCDS, Amy was the Associate Director at the Center on Disability and Development at Texas A&M University, taught elementary education, practiced as a diagnostician, advocated for families, and founded an inclusive camp.

During her time as the TCDS Director, Amy strengthened the operations of the Center by growing its productivity with the receipt of several grants/contracts and increased its recognition in the community. She also strategically hired new staff to build the capacity and expertise of the Center.  She served as a champion for establishing new partnerships, programs, and projects, like the E4Texas program which is a post-secondary program for individuals with and without disabilities.  She will be greatly missed by colleagues and community members alike!

Amy looks forward to enjoying her retirement in the beautiful Texas Hill Country with her friends, family, and pets. We hope you join us in wishing Amy well as she starts this new exciting chapter in her life.
