Cindy Utama is a third-year student in the Educational Psychology PhD program at Baylor University. She holds a master’s in special education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and has worked extensively in disability services at universities in North America where she supported culturally and linguistically diverse students with disabilities from all over the world. Her current research focuses on families of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), particularly siblings, and the intersection of family, faith, disability, and culture. As a sibling of someone with IDD, she is passionate about helping people with IDD and their families through research, education, and advocacy. She hopes to learn and collaborate through ACT LEND and contribute to creating a more culturally responsive and inclusive support systems for people with disabilities and their families.
