Amy Pei-Lung Yu, PhD, MSW, is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin Texas Center for Disability Studies. She received a Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California, and her Ph.D. in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Yu has over 15 years of experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) of all ages and their families as a direct support professional, case manager, social worker, and a researcher. She is passionate about improving the quality of life of individuals with IDD and their families by developing equity-driven, community-engaged, culturally tailored programs and systems. Using socio-ecological frameworks and intersectional approaches, Dr. Yu’s research focuses on family support, workforce support, and disparities among culturally and linguistically diverse families of individuals with IDD. Her recent interests include inclusive research methods with adults with IDD and disability health policies, with a long-term goal of advancing sustainable family caregiving and strengthening the disability workforce.
Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, cooking, and spending quality time with her family.
