Genetics Education Seminar: The Role of Genetics in Autism Spectrum Disorder

Presented by Chaya Murali, M.D., Assistant Professor of Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine attendees of this webinar will learn the role of a geneticist in the care of young children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), introduce the genetic tests that are recommended for children with ASD, and understand the roles and limitations of genetic testing for young children with ASD.

Joining Dr. Murali will be Laura Buckner, M.Ed, LPC/Program Manager Texas Center for Disability Studies at UT Austin. She will present on person-centered practices for people who work with children with autism spectrum disorder.

The series is presented collaboratively by the University of Texas Center for Disability Studies, Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Children's Hospital and the Department of State Health Services.

Texas Children’s Hospital is accredited with distinction as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. This series awards up to 5.0 contact hours (1.0 contact hours for each session attended).
